Emergency Alert System
The college periodically evaluates and revises its Emergency Response Plan to enhance the safety of the Mercyhurst community. We’ve recently added a cell phone text message alert system, called e2Campus, to aid communication in the event of an emergency. This service augments our existing emergency communication plan and is open to all students, staff, administrators, and faculty at all Mercyhurst College campuses.
In order to receive these alerts, you must register your cell phone with the system. By using Short Messaging System (SMS) technology, the system can broadcast messages to registered mobile phones, Blackberries, wireless PDAs, and smart phones even in times when traditional phone and e-mail networks are congested due to increased volume. Many cell phone plans include SMS messaging at no charge; those that do not will still receive the messages, but may incur a small fee (usually of 10-20 cents per message received).
Register to receive these alerts.
- On the left side of the page, click on “new user registration.” You will need to login using your Mercyhurst network username and password. This is the same username and password used to access your e-mail. In order to login, please note that you must enter “mercyhurst\” before your username, as shown in the picture on the screen.
- Complete the fields on the registration screen to create your e2Campus account and click ‘Create Account.’
- To ensure you’re properly registered to receive alerts, e2Campus will send you a short text message with a 4-digit verification code. Enter the validation code and click ‘Validate.’
- You will receive a message indicating your registration was successful.
Aside from one test message per term, the college will only use these alerts for emergency situations that may impact the college community.
For more information about the system, please visit the e2Campus support page at http://www.e2campus.com/my/mercyhurst/support.htm. If you experience difficulty registering, ensure that JavaScript is enabled in your web browser, attempt to clear your browser cache, and try again. If you still are unable to register, please call e2Campus technical support at (800) 936-3525. Please note that Mercyhurst’s Computer Help Desk cannot provide assistance with the e2Campus registration.
We assure you that the safety of our community is one of Mercyhurst’s utmost priorities and believe this system enhances our communication strategy. We hope you’ll take the time to register.
Best wishes on a new academic year,
Gerard A. Tobin, Ph.D.
Vice President of Student Life
